Week 3 recap
|
Nobody paid for anybody
Last week one tight end paid for everybody. Brandon's Dalton Schultz ladder was up 70 units on its own. This week Brandon went 2-23, and nobody was around to cover for him. The shows we track lost 45.17 units through Sunday, the worst week of the season so far. The only two shows in the green were Action Network and Even Money, the two that mostly just bet sides and totals. Each finished up about 5 units. Turns out the most boring card in the building was the right one.
Every number below is through Sunday. Monday night gets its own short email tomorrow.

The $10 Tailer
Units are how we keep score. Dollars are how it feels. Here's what you'd have if you bet $10 on every named pick from each show through Sunday.
| Action Network |
+$49.50 |
| Even Money |
+$49.00 |
| Sharp or Square |
-$54.40 |
| Sports Gambling Podcast |
-$125.20 |
| Anytime TD Show |
-$147.00 |
| Brandon's Playground |
-$223.60 |
Tail all six shows and you'd be down $451.70. Tail everyone except Action Network and you'd be down $501.20. Season to date, Brandon's Playground has still turned $10 a pick into +$510.50, even after this week. Sports Gambling Podcast is at -$766.10.

The Fade Report
Fifteen times this week, two or more shows landed on the same side. Those pile-ons went 24-25-2 and lost 3.37 units. Fading every one of them at -110 went 25-24 and lost 1.25 units. Nobody made money following the crowd, and nobody made money fading it either.
The worst of it was a four-way tie at 0-3. The Bucs, Jets, 49ers and Chargers each drew two or three shows and none of them covered. The crowd's best moment came Thursday night, when three shows took the Falcons and went 8-0 for +7.28 units in a 35-14 win.
Season to date, the pile-ons are 59-66-2. Fading all of them is 66-59 and up 1.06 units. Barely a story yet, but it's still printing.

Week 3 Awards
|
Hot Mic goes to Fezzik (Even Money)
He went 10-7-1 for +3.59 units. The best part was Thursday night, when he bet the Falcons plus half a point in all four quarters. Atlanta tied the first quarter and won the next three, so all four cashed. He also played both sides of two games chasing middles. Neither middle hit, but he never lost both ends either.

|
Cold Mic goes to Brandon (Brandon's Playground)
A week after his Dalton Schultz ladder paid 70.55 units, he went 2-23 and lost 21.18. Not one Pat Freiermuth, Rachaad White or 49ers alt rung cashed. Both of his wins were contest picks. Ladders giveth, ladders taketh away.

Bonehead Read of the Week goes to Sports Gambling Podcast
Sean and Kramer put nine tickets on two Green Bay tight ends Thursday night. Anytime touchdowns, first touchdowns, two-touchdown props and a same game parlay. Tucker Kraft and Jonnu Smith finished with zero touchdowns in a 35-14 loss. Sean did cash Jordan Love over 1.5 passing touchdowns. Love threw them to Christian Watson and Matthew Golden.

| |
|
Longshot of the Week goes to Doug and Stuckey (Action Network)
Their Colts and Steelers moneyline parlay paid +475. Indianapolis won 19-17 on a 53-yard field goal with 21 seconds left. Pittsburgh won 30-27, sealed by a strip-sack of Joe Burrow with 44 seconds left. Both dogs needed the final minute, and both got there.

|
Bad Beat of the Week goes to the Ravens -3.5 crowd
Stuckey, Simon and the Sharp or Square Official five all laid 3.5 in Rio. Tyler Loop hit a 56-yard field goal at 0:00 to win it 34-31. The kick won the game and lost the bet. Chad had -2.5 and cashed. Simon's other ticket at -3 pushed. Same team, same kick, three different outcomes.
|
|
Still Standing
Chad and Simon both rode the Chiefs in Miami, and Kansas City won 24-10. The Dolphins tied it 7-7 in the first quarter and never found the end zone again. Nobody went to the graveyard this week.
|
The Honest Corner
Three weeks in, one bad Sunday didn't erase Brandon's edge. Over 102 graded picks, a bettor with no edge would land between -37.48 and +37.52 units nine times in ten. Brandon's Playground sits at +51.05, still outside that range. The Anytime TD Show at -10.27 and Action Network at -0.31 are both well inside theirs, which means their records don't say anything real yet.
|
|
Tonight's Sweat
Four shows have money riding on Monday night. Every side bet from Action Network, Sharp or Square and Brandon's Playground points the same direction. The only dissent came from a lean and a pick that was later swapped out, and neither counts here.
The Anytime TD Show has each host on a different scorer, plus a three-man parlay that would turn a rough week around in one night. Hear the reasoning on the TD Show and Sharp or Square before kickoff.
