Week 5 recap, through Sunday

Group project, A plus
The Anytime TD Show walked into Week 5 off three straight losing weeks. So each host took his favorite scorer of the week and they put all three on one DraftKings ticket. Pat Freiermuth scored. Isaiah Likely scored. Justin Jefferson scored. The ticket paid 33 to 1, and the show finished Sunday up 35.10 units, its best week of the season. Three guys who spent a month disagreeing about touchdowns finally agreed on something, and it was each other.
Every number below runs through Sunday. Monday night is still to play, and Tuesday's short follow-up will settle it.

The $10 Tailer
$10 on every named pick from each show, Thursday through Sunday.
| Anytime TD Show |
+$351.00 |
| Action Network |
+$24.70 |
| Brandon's Playground |
-$41.50 |
| Sharp or Square |
-$68.10 |
| Even Money |
-$125.60 |
| Sports Gambling Podcast |
-$288.80 |
Tail all six shows and you'd be down $148.30 through Sunday. Tail everyone except the TD Show and you'd be down $499.30. One ticket was the difference between a bad week and a terrible one.
Season to date, Brandon's Playground still leads, turning $10 a pick into +$431.80. The TD Show's big Sunday flipped its season to +$95.30. The Sports Gambling Podcast sits at -$1,115.70, which is a lot of tens.

The Fade Report
Thirteen times this week, two or more shows landed on the same side. Those pile-ons went 21-19 for +0.11 units, which is the crowd breaking almost exactly even. Fading every one of them at -110 went 19-21 and lost 3.71 units.
The worst of it was Seahawks -2.5 and -3, with three shows on board. Seattle lost 32-29 to the 49ers and the pile went 0-4. Saints +2.5 and +2 also went 0-4 in a 23-13 loss to Minnesota. The crowd got paid on the Packers, where four shows went 5-0 as Green Bay won 31-7, and on the Texans, 5-0 from three shows in a 26-3 win at Tennessee.
Season to date, the crowd is 110-120-4 for -20.15 units. Fading all of it is 120-110-4 for -0.80. The crowd is losing. Fading it is just losing slower.

Week 5 Awards
|
Hot Mic goes to Neiffer (Anytime TD Show)
He went 5-4 for +9.00 units, the best week of any host with at least three plays. Drake Maye found the end zone at +450, and his favorite of the week, Isaiah Likely at +245, cashed on its own and again on the group ticket.

|
Cold Mic goes to Ryan Kramer (Sports Gambling Podcast)
He went 5-19 and lost 14.34 units. The Thursday first touchdown card had four names on it, including the Bucs defense at 40 to 1, and none of them scored first. Co-host Sean Green was right behind him at 4-16, so it was a quiet week in that studio.

|
Bonehead Read of the Week goes to Even Money
Ross and Fezzik worked the Cowboys, teased down from -8.5 to -2.5, into five of their two-team teasers on Thursday night. Dallas lost 24-16 at home, so six extra points were never going to be enough, and that one leg sank all five tickets. Even Money's teasers finished 1-11 through Sunday, and the one that cashed did not have Dallas in it.

Group Project of the Week goes to Gallant, Koerner and Neiffer (Anytime TD Show)
New award, earned on the spot. Koerner brought Freiermuth, Neiffer brought Likely and Gallant brought Jefferson, each man's favorite scorer of the week. At +3300 it paid 33 units. Gallant went 1-8 on his own, and his one winner was the leg he donated to this ticket. Teamwork.

Split Personality goes to Simon (Sharp or Square)
On the Week 4 reaction show he called Bears -1.5 the fishiest line of the week and grabbed it. Midweek he added Bears -2.5. By Sunday morning he was telling listeners to do zero research and bet Green Bay, and calling a Bears bet a sucker bet. Green Bay won 31-7. He went 1-2 on the game and was right on his third try.

Escalator Out of Order goes to Brandon
Also new. Brandon put ten bets on Michael Wilson, from over 72.5 receiving yards all the way up to a 173-yard rung at 30 to 1, plus ten catches and most receiving yards of the week. Wilson never cleared the first rung, and the escalator went 0-10. Last week Wilson broke Sean Green's ladder too, so consider this a league-wide warning. A Vikings road-trip parlay Brandon built for a listener paid +650 and kept his week to -3.88.

Survivor
No survivor picks made the board this week, so the graveyard gets a week off and nobody is sweating one tonight. We'll be back with obituaries when somebody hands us one.
|
The Honest Corner
One giant ticket is not a skill. The TD Show just had a +35.10 week, and its season total of +9.53 still sits well inside the -56.53 to +56.53 a bettor with no edge lands in nine times out of ten. Brandon's Playground is the only show the site rates as leaning above the price. Sharp or Square and the Sports Gambling Podcast lean below it. Everyone else is still noise.

Tonight's Sweat
Twenty-six plays from five shows are riding on Monday night, and the side bets do not agree. Both Action Network hosts and Brandon's contest card are on one side, with Doug liking it enough to bet it two ways, while Sean Green and Ross are on the other and Fezzik leaned against his own co-host without making it a play. The Sports Gambling Podcast has 16 plays tonight by itself, which is what hope looks like after losing 28.88 units through Sunday.
Hear the cases on Action Network, the Sports Gambling Podcast and the Anytime TD Show, where all three hosts are running the group ticket back.
